There will be no classes in Cusco for the next 6 months or so as I am spending
some time in England with my daughter who is expecting a baby on August 12th.
My email contact will be the same but my cellphone will not work outside of
Perú. My UK phone number is on the contacts page and my email address will
remain the same.
Please note that NO ONE will be taking over classes for me while I am away,
beware of anyone falsely claiming to be from Salsa Perú.
I
have sold the restaurant La Bodeguita Cubana and there is no more connection
between them and Salsa Perú therefore there will be no more salsa classes there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
to
all past present and future students
There will be no
classes over Christmas and New Year as I am going to England on holiday.
I look forward to
seeing you all mid January when classes resume.

After the disaster of the congress that
never was in Lima many of us are still out of pocket and waiting for
refunds. More information is being received daily from people in
various parts of the world who all claim to have lost money and the whole
thing is getting very complex. In the public interest I have added
an extra page on this site to keep interested parties up to date with
developments. If you have anything to add please contact me.

I'm
sorry to say that the proposed opening party did not go ahead in the Hotel
Espana as we were told but in an unsavory club in a dangerous part of
Lima. There were only a few people - mostly from Cusco - there.
We are all waiting now to find out what is going to happen but it looks
unlikely that the congress will go ahead, certainly no one I know
would return to that club under any circumstances and definitely no one in
their right mind would pay entrance money to it.
We have paid what is for Peruanos an enormous amount of money for this
congress, those of us invited to perform and teach have also had the
expenses of preparation, clothes etc. Everyone appears to be asking
for their money back - here's hoping we are successful. More news as
we get it.

Last night
ended with my bag being snatched while about to get into a taxi.
None of the many people standing around saw anything naturally, or
tried to help when my friend and I chased after him before he got onto his
friends motorbike and escaped. Normally I never carry anything of
value at night but last night I took off a treasured ring while I was
dancing and forgot to put it back on. It cannot be replaced - here's
hoping the thief rots in hell.

Apologies to anyone who has tried to ring
me over the past few days, I had a small housewarming party in my
new house and some thieving little creep stole my cellphone. I
have replaced it now but have lost all the phone numbers on it so please
text or email me with yours. I've also lost my Camisa Negra ringtone
so if anyone can assist.... :)

Following the success of the Noches de
Salsa at La Bodeguita Cubana I have bought a half share in this excellent
restaurant. This is the first step on the road to opening a true
Salsa club in Cusco which is sorely needed. Watch this space -
Barracuda will be next! There will be some changes, e.g.
Free WiFi internet will be available for clients from 25th September

on 18th
February there will be a fancy dress joint birthday party for 3 members of
the Salsa Peru team at Barracuda, please e-mail for invitation.
|
 |
As it's
unlikely that Barracuda will be open by then this plan will have to be
shelved for this year but we will of course all celebrate our birthdays on
a dance floor somewhere.

 | As Barracuda is owned by a Scot there

Burns Night at my home. Students of Salsa Peru will be welcome,

 | Unfortunately due to the continued lies
and broken promises from the owner of the building in Calle Marquese it
looks like Barracuda will not open there and legal action is pending.
The hunt is on for new premises and Barracuda will open as soon as an
alternative site is found. |
|
 | Projected opening date for Barracuda is
1st December - watch this space for updates. |
 | Unfortunately Barracuda will not be
opening on 1st December due to circumstances beyond the control of Salsa
Peru. Hopefully agreements and promises made will be kept and the
situation will be resolved soon, if not the search for suitable
premises will resume. |
 | It appears that a solution has been found
and Barracuda will open as soon as possible in January - watch this
space |
 | I may have been a bit premature with the
previous comment and perhaps still too trusting. If people stop
lying to me and keep their promises then Barracuda will open in Calle
Marquese at the end of January - if not the search for new premises will
resume as soon as I return to Cusco. It will still be Barracuda,
just in a different location - at Salsa Peru the words "give up" have
absolutely no meaning :) |
|
 | The Salsa Peru School of Salsa opened
it's doors. |
 | Premises were secured at Calle Marquese
for a bar / discoteque playing only latin music. It's on two
floors, the lower floor will be a comfortable bar to meet your
friends and talk and the upper floor will be for dancing salsa.
Once it's open Salsa Peru will hold classes here too. |
